Same place, different name?

That soon may be the case if the Eastman Kodak Company gets its wish to break ties with the Hollywood theater it has been associated with for the last 12 years.

We're referring, of course, to the Kodak Theatre, which has been home to the Academy Awards since 2002.

So why the desire to part ways?

Chalk it up to financial troubles.

Kodak confirms that it has filed a motion with the court seeking approval to terminate its agreement with the CIM group, which owns the mall that houses the theater. The original deal made back in 2000 gave Kodak naming rights to the theater, with the famed photo company agreeing to pay $75 million over 20 years for the privilege.

"Kodak is proud of its important role in the Entertainment industry, and our long standing relationship with film makers. Our motion today reflects our commitment to ensure that we are maximizing value for our entertainment customers, creditors and other stakeholders."

If the request is granted, there's no word yet on when exactly a name change would occur. Meanwhile, the Oscars are still scheduled to take place on February 26 at the theater.

Regardless of what it's called.
